COEUR d'ALENE - This week's City Council workshop should provide a more detailed estimate on a tentative budget for the potential project's phase one cost.

Team McEuen, the park's conceptual designers, and city officials couldn't provide pinpoint estimates Friday afternoon, but said they should be ready by Friday's workshop.

Phase one of McEuen Field was described in April by Team McEuen as the redesigned park's core, or footprint.

It included the bulk of the parking and infrastructure, to a tune of between $14.7 million and $17.3 million. Adding temporary baseball relocation costs and a new boat launch at Silver Beach, the springtime total hovered between $17 and $20 million.

Phase one would also add parking and increase grass space by five acres by removing the boat launch and building a two-level parking garage.

Features on the northwest end of the park could include a veterans memorial, grand plaza and waterfront promenade and sea walls and steps.

The workshop will include details on the completed traffic study relating to the downtown park.

The workshop is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Friday at Park Tower on Front Avenue.

It had been reported previously as a Wednesday meeting due to incorrect information provided by City Hall. It is informational only, and the City Council will not take official action on any part of the plan.
