COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene woman told police on Saturday she believed her home was burglarized last month.
The resident of the 1300 block of East Pennsylvania Ave. said she noticed items missing from her home three or four weeks ago, but thought she may have misplaced them.
She "did not consider they may have been burglarized until she began reading the recent articles in the newspaper about the number of home burglaries in the area and the recovered jewelry," according to a police report.
The woman said rings, a bracelet and jewelry box with a total value of $250 were gone. She planned to check the police Facebook site of recovery items in numerous burglaries in the area in recent months.
In a separate incident, a Coeur d'Alene resident in the 800 block of north Third Street said his car was burglarized Friday.
A laptop, computer flashdrives, textbooks, sunglasses, jewelry, adapter and cords, and clothing, with a total value of $2,457 were taken while the SUV was parked overnight.
The victim said he was sure he locked the car, but there was no sign of forced entry.
Police remind residents to be alert for suspicious activity or people in their neighborhoods and lock doors and windows to homes and cars.
