MOSES LAKE - Two men were arrested after reportedly trying to steal a car frame from a home about 25 miles east of Moses Lake.

Timothy W. Hampton, 37, Coeur d' Alene, was arrested for criminal trespassing, attempted theft and driving while license suspended. Hampton also had a felony warrant and five misdemeanor warrants from Grant County.

Patrick H. Collins, 57, Moses Lake, was arrested for criminal trespassing and attempted theft.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office received a call of a theft in progress at Koch Road and Batum Road at about 3 p.m. Monday, according to Adams County Sheriff Doug Barger.

A landowner reportedly encountered two men loading a car frame onto a trailer before towing it away from the scene with a 1987 Chevrolet utility box pickup, Barger said.

The car frame reportedly fell off of the trailer as they were leaving.

The landowner followed the suspects for about 14 miles, keeping in contact with Adams County dispatchers while deputies were en route to the call.

Adams and Lincoln counties deputies caught up to the vehicle at the Batum Elevators, and Barger stated the suspects were booked into the Adams County Jail without incident.
