The Bonners Ferry boys varsity Badgers basketball team on Tuesday beat Libby at home with a score of 48-33.
The top scoring came from senior Badgers Andre Zarate and Alex Awebry. Zarate had 25 points and four steels while Awebry had 10 points and nine rebounds.
The next two games will be league games and coach Clint Arthur feels the team is ready for the challenge.
“I think we will probably just keep getting better with experience,” Arthur said. “Most of the players are new to varsity and if we can keep playing like we did last night we should be fine.”
Arthur said the team is playing hard and doing well and he feels good going into the game against Priest River today.
“The Kellogg, St. Maries and Timberlake games will be challenging but we have a solid league and we should do well,” Arthur said.
The Badgers play two league games back to back first today at 7:30 p.m. in Priest River, then again at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, against Kellogg at home.
