Beggerly paces Wildcats past Hawks

KELLOGG - Ryan Beggerly scored 16 points to lead the Kellogg Wildcats past the Lakeland Hawks 69-50 in a nonleague game at Andrews Gymnasium on Thursday.

"Kellogg jumped out pretty quick in the first quarter," Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. "(Hayden) Garner hit a 3 at the buzzer and they carried it through. We got into some foul trouble in the fourth quarter and weren't able to get back into it."

Eric Cooper scored 12 points and Adam Black scored 10 points for Lakeland (1-2), which hosts Moscow on Saturday in the 4A Inland Empire League opener for both schools.

Ryan McDonald had 14 points and Taylor Hulstrom had nine rebounds for Kellogg (4-0), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Saturday.

WALLACE - Kelly Madsen scored a game-high 24 points as the Tigers beat the Miners in a nonleague game.

"They just shot the lights out in the first quarter," said Wallace coach Corey Miller of Timberlake. "They're a really good team and didn't miss much in the first quarter."

Courtney Jennings scored 17 points for Wallace (4-4), which hosts Clark Fork on Monday.

Taylor Mason scored seven points for Timberlake (3-2), which hosts St. Maries on Saturday in the Intermountain League opener for both schools.

Christina Nilson scoerd 12 points for Lakeside (0-6), which faces Coeur d'Alene Charter on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School.
