Reader endorses Bill Bailey
Moses Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 2 months AGO
After attending more than a few Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District (MLIRD) meetings, over the past two years, we have come to several conclusions. First, the MLIRD board and staff are doing a truly amazing job of providing the users of Moses Lake with irrigation, rehabilitation and recreation. Thanks to the MLIRD our lake is the source of a secure irrigation water supply, stable rates, open and much cleaner water access, economic development, tourism income, and family and sporting recreation.
The MLIRD hosts the kids fishing derby, the hydroplane races, the Water Quality Institute, and the lake shore cleanup. They are responsible for replacing the gates at the North Outlet Dam, remodeling Connelly Park's restrooms, playground and beach, beginning the dredging process, and treating milfoil and other noxious weeds in addition to numerous other improvements.
The MLIRD has continually improved and maintained our community's largest asset all without any additional burden on city and county funds.
Our second conclusion is that the MLIRD Board and Staff have been professional, accommodating and beyond patient when dealing with unrealistic demands and personal attacks. The most recent accusations have gone beyond the point of ridiculousness with claims of election fraud. The MLIRD election process follows established RCWs and should not be subjected to anyone's disgruntled fabrications. We applaud the MLIRD for taking a stand against this kind of harassment, and we hope to see them continue their great work with Bill Bailey on the team.

The federal government's (lack of) thinking regarding gun control
No law has ever prevented a person with evil intent from committing murder, assaults, theft, or any other crime. People were murdered long before firearms were invented. Guns are inanimate objects, capable of being used for both defense as well as evil acts.
Reader thinks ballot process is too complex
I went to the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District office to apply for an absentee ballot.
Reader supports incumbent
I believe Allan Burritt is the right choice for being elected to the Moses Lake School District Board. I have found Allan to be a committed and dedicated individual when it comes to caring about the success of students who is motivated due to a genuine, sincere interest in doing good. I have found him to possess the valuable quality of striving for improvements for student success but also sensitive to, and understanding of, the economic realities we are facing today. When voting, I encourage you to consider these factors and vote for Allan Burritt as member of the Moses Lake School District Board.
