This letter is for the people eligible to vote in the upcoming Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District (MLIRD) election on Dec. 13.
I am encouraging you to vote for Bill Bailey. Bill has a long time interest in our Moses Lake. Bill and his family have lived and worked near this unique body of water for many years. Bill has followed the activities of the MLIRD closely. Bill has a realistic outlook of what the lake was like in the past, where it is now and what it will take to continue the improvements we have seen.
A vote for Bill will keep a well-documented plan on track to continue the improvement in water quality and over all conditions of the lake. I believe that Bill sees the plan as a work in progress and that it could change as the work continues.
This election shouldn't be about alleged special interests or axes to grind but about the future of Moses Lake and what is best for the continuing improvement of water quality and the conditions of the lake. This election is, as it should be, all about the lake!

The federal government's (lack of) thinking regarding gun control
No law has ever prevented a person with evil intent from committing murder, assaults, theft, or any other crime. People were murdered long before firearms were invented. Guns are inanimate objects, capable of being used for both defense as well as evil acts.
Reader thinks ballot process is too complex
I went to the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District office to apply for an absentee ballot.

I believe Allan Burritt is the right choice for being elected to the Moses Lake School District Board. I have found Allan to be a committed and dedicated individual when it comes to caring about the success of students who is motivated due to a genuine, sincere interest in doing good. I have found him to possess the valuable quality of striving for improvements for student success but also sensitive to, and understanding of, the economic realities we are facing today. When voting, I encourage you to consider these factors and vote for Allan Burritt as member of the Moses Lake School District Board.
