Reader voting for Bill Bailey
Moses Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 14 years AGO
We are faced with an important decision. The election for director of the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District will help determine the future of our lake.
Bill Bailey is a long time resident of Moses Lake and has been very involved in community service. He is the owner/operator of a successful construction business.
Bill Bailey has served on the Planning Commission of the City of Moses Lake and Grant County Planning Board. This gives him an understanding of rules and regulations that must be followed dealing with the sediment problems that plague our lake. It has taken many years for the lake to deteriorate to its current state; it will take considerable time, money and effort to deal with this complex problem.
Bill will bring additional accountability and transparency to this position. His only agenda is to improve Moses Lake, to restore it in a responsible manner, making good use of the valuable taxpayer resources.
This issue affects Moses Lake and our efforts to improve the quality of life in our community. I have spent time visiting the dredge site, talking with employees and trying to learn as much as I can about this project. My observation is that we are on the right track. We are doing something that is unique in the Northwest. I have not found any other agency that is attempting to restore a lake that contains several inches of Mount St. Helens ash, years of sediment deposits from Crab Creek, Rocky Ford Creek drainage and adjacent agriculture lands. MLIRD is making progress, Please make an informed decision.

The federal government's (lack of) thinking regarding gun control
No law has ever prevented a person with evil intent from committing murder, assaults, theft, or any other crime. People were murdered long before firearms were invented. Guns are inanimate objects, capable of being used for both defense as well as evil acts.
Reader thinks ballot process is too complex
I went to the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District office to apply for an absentee ballot.
Reader supports incumbent
I believe Allan Burritt is the right choice for being elected to the Moses Lake School District Board. I have found Allan to be a committed and dedicated individual when it comes to caring about the success of students who is motivated due to a genuine, sincere interest in doing good. I have found him to possess the valuable quality of striving for improvements for student success but also sensitive to, and understanding of, the economic realities we are facing today. When voting, I encourage you to consider these factors and vote for Allan Burritt as member of the Moses Lake School District Board.
