BUTTE - Off to a pretty good start.

The Glacier Wolfpack wrestling team won all three of its duals on Friday at Butte's Mining City Duals.

Glacier opened with a 61-12 win over Billings West, defeated Columbia Falls 72-3 and finished with a 67-6 walloping of Dillon.

The Flathead Braves got off to a slow start, losing 66-21 to Sidney and 54-33 to Havre, but finished with a strong win over Helena Capital, 60-19.

"Real good day today. The kids are on a roll, real solid wrestling all day. I'm real proud of the way they came out here and wrestled today," said Glacier coach Mark Fischer.

"But (today) we will find out what we're made of," he added.

The Wolfpack opens at 9 a.m. today against Corvallis. It will follow that with Sentinel at noon and then the championship semifinals at 3 p.m. The championship is slated for 6 p.m.

"I think Skyview is looking tough and so is Great Falls," the coach said.

Flathead has two consolation pool duals today. It opens with Huntley Project at 10:30 a.m., then takes on Big Sky at 1:30 p.m.

"We had a slow start today, came out a little bit flat. I'm not sure what was going on, but we didn't come out with the spark we've been wrestling with up to this point," said Flathead coach Matt Owen.

"(The Braves) all agreed. They felt like they didn't have it on that first one. But they all responded really well. We bounced back.

"Havre and Sidney are both really solid teams. It was a tough draw for us," he said.

"We wrestled Havre really tough. We went out and competed hard and it was nice to get our first win against Capital. We looked sharp in that one," he added.

"We've got a bunch of young kids. By the end of the season, they're going to be surprising some people," Owen said.
