A 50-year-old Columbia Falls man pleaded not guilty to three felonies Thursday in Flathead District Court.

William Russell is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of criminal endangerment in relation to a Sept. 30 incident.

According to charging documents, two men visited Russell’s shop to pick up some tools. As soon as they pulled in, Russell pulled in behind him, got out of his car and shot one or two rounds at the car, striking the rear tire.

Russell then pointed the gun at the passenger and the two men drove off. He got back into his car and began to chase them.

The documents also state that Russell admitted shooting at the car.

If convicted of all charges, Russell faces up to 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $150,000. His next court date is April 11.
