Offering a personal touch for women's attire and accessories, Boardwalk Boutique has opened a second store in Coeur d'Alene at the Plaza Shops downtown. The first here opened in Riverstone in 2008, and owners Rachel Stippich and Anne Bonar have had a store in Bonners Ferry since 1982.

The stores offer an eclectic mix of contemporary everyday and evening fashion to be worn by women ages 25 and up in Idaho and across the world. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 to 5 on Sunday. Phone 765-3500 downtown and 667-4665 in Riverstone.

Cisco's consolidates on Fourth

The downtown Boardwalk Boutique moved into the Plaza Shops space formerly occupied by Cisco's - Hunters of the Past. This store consolidated into the Cisco's spaces at 220 N. Fourth St.

Originally an Oddfellows Lodge, the 8,000-square-foot space from the 1920s offers antiques and artwork with a Westerrn/Native American emphasis. Originally from Iowa, owners Sam and Denise Kennedy opened Cisco's here in 1996. They primarily find their items from local residents and estate sales.

Seasonal hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays by appointment. Phone 769-7575. A website is in progress.

Military surplus at Triple S in Hayden

A variety of tactical and survival gear is offered at Triple S Surplus & Survival that opened this past week at 9422 Government Way (next to Sahara Pizza) in Hayden.

The still-being-unpacked inventory includes medical and food items, camouflage and winter clothing and packets, blankets, tools. Owners Don and Mallen Stovall will be adding firearm and pawn items and a wall of photos of military personnel killed in action.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone 762-7738.

Ciao Mambo closes, MacKenzie River to expand

Ciao Mambo has closed in Hayden (open since April 2008) and directed customers to its Spokane restaurant. Although rumors said the closure included the company's MacKenzie River Pizza outlet at Highway 95 and Canfield Avenue since January 2009, this eatery will actually expand. Both places are owned by the same parent company.

The expansion this spring will include its name to MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub. The menu will add steak, salmon, fish and chips, meatloaf, ribs, burgers, shepherd's pie, fish taco skewers, goat cheese quesos and more.

The Glacier Restaurant Group has 15 MacKenzie Rivers stores, mostly in Montana, Ciao Mambos in Spokane, Missoula and Whitefish and Craggy Range Bar & Grills in Sandpoint and Whitefish.

Hang on for these Tidbits

• Watch for details on two stores moving north - Skin Deep from the Plaza Shops to Silver Lake Mall, and Maurice's from the mall to the former Corral West space on Canfield Avenue.

• Style stuff: Seasons of the year are not capitalized. Earth is when referring to the planet but not when referring to dirt. Notice that when using a colon (:) what follows it is capitalized if it's a sentence (see the beginning of this paragraph) but not if it's simply a list such as "Use these ingredients: salt, pepper etc."

• The word "smithereens" probably came from the Irish word smidirini.
