Missing skiers found at Big Mountain

Two teenage girls went out of bounds and got lost skiing on Big Mountain on opening day Saturday.

Not from the area, the girls were reported missing at 6 p.m. and found unharmed on the back side of the mountain at about 1 a.m. after a search by Big Mountain Ski Patrol, North Valley Search and Rescue and Flathead Nordic Ski Patrol, Flathead County Undersheriff Jordan White said.

Saturday afternoon, a boy about 10 years old was taken into custody by the Kalispell Police Department after motorists reported three boys throwing rocks at passing vehicles at U.S. 93 and Grandview Drive.

A woman at North Main and East Idaho streets told police her car was stolen and crashed by another woman. The woman said it was stolen at about 3 a.m. but she was too intoxicated to report it.

A man reported a window broken out of his pickup truck on Eighth Avenue West.

A woman said her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while at the post office.

Saturday evening, a man on Ninth Avenue West told police that another man "body slammed" him and had tried to push him down a flight of stairs the other day.

A caller on Fifth Avenue East reported finding a note on the back door that said, "Your house has been watched tonight by the creeps." Three more callers on Fifth Avenue East and Sixth Street East later reported finding identical notes.

A woman on East Idaho Street reported her daughter's backpack stolen. It contained school supplies and an iPod and charger.

A woman told police someone hit a friend's car with something like a baseball bat while it was parked, damaging the roof, side and rear of the vehicle.

A bar declined to pursue charges when a woman left after trying to pay with a credit card that was declined. The woman was counseled, advised of an outstanding warrant and given a ride home by a sober driver.

Early Sunday morning, police returned an abandoned 911 call from Rosewood Drive. A mom said her 5-year-old son dialed by mistake. The boy wanted to explain that the cat just ate poop.

A woman on Fifth Avenue West reported her vehicle egged for a fourth time.

A tool belt and tools found in the roadway on Kelly Road were turned in to police.

Saturday morning, a man on 12th Avenue West told the Columbia Falls Police Department that someone shot the window of his car with a BB gun.

A caller on Ninth Street West reported a theft.

A GPS unit was taken from an unlocked vehicle on 11th Avenue West.

A man was arrested following a traffic stop on Fourth Avenue West.

The Polson Police Department cited someone for resisting arrest after responding to a report of suspicious activity at 11th Street East and Hillcrest early Saturday morning.
