Man stabbed during home invasion

A 19-year-old Kalispell man has been arrested after entering a home on Fifth Avenue East and allegedly stabbing the homeowner Monday night.

Dante Kier is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center. Recommended charges include attempted deliberate homicide and aggravated burglary.

According to a news release from the Kalispell Police Department, the alleged victim was at home with his wife and children, working on a kitchen appliance, when he went outside to his garage for a tool.

At that point, Kier allegedly entered through the unlocked front door and attacked the homeowner when he came back inside.

The man was able to overpower Kier and restrain him while his wife called 911.

When police arrived at the home at approximately 9:35 p.m., the homeowner was bleeding as a result of having been stabbed during the altercation. He was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. His wife and children were not harmed.

Kier recently moved to Kalispell, where he has family. He previously lived in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information on the incident or events that led up to it are asked to contact Officer Chad Zimmerman the Kalispell Police Department at 758-7780.
