Joiner sparks St. Maries to narrow win at Cheney

CHENEY - Warren Joiner scored 13 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter as the visiting St. Maries Lumberjacks scratched out a 61-58 nonleague victory over the Cheney Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
St. Maries (4-0) led 31-18 at halftime, but was outscored 24-12 in the third quarter, and trailed late in the fourth quarter against Cheney (4-2).
"It wasn't easy, it wasn't pretty, but we'll take it," St. Maries coach Craig Wicks said.
Satchel Schetzle had 11 points, Kyl McMaster had 12 rebounds and Joiner had 10 boards for St. Maries, which plays in a holiday tournament at Freeman (Wash.) Dec. 27-28.

SPOKANE - Aaron Spencer scored 16 points and the visiting Hawks rallied from a 17-point deficit in the third quarter to beat the Knights 66-65 in overtime.
Adam Black scored 15 points and Eric Cooper 10 points for Lakeland (2-3), which travels to Colville on Thursday.
J.T. Phelen scored 21 points for East Valley.

WALLACE - Dakota Rice scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Tigers past the Miners in a nonleague game.
"They shot very well as a team from the floor," Wallace coach Bruce Bailey said of Timberlake. "They hit a lot of high percentage shots and are a good all around team. Timberlake jumped out to a quick lead from the start and never looked back."
Austin Allen scored nine points for Timberlake (4-1), which hosts Medical Lake on Thursday.

"It was nice to get a league win, but it was a hard-fought game," Kootenai coach Andrew Whipple said. "Clark Fork worked hard and played tough, but we just happened to come out on top. They played good defense, which influenced some of our sloppy play."
Greg Boudousquie scored 10 points for Clark Fork (2-4, 1-1 NSL), which had only five players due to injury.

"We didn't compete tonight," Lakeside coach Bill Brebner said. "We were still in shock after the Wallace game. We're not focused right now and we need to refocus on the game of basketball and not just being satisfied with where we are."
Joseph Chapman scored nine points and Lamont Higgins had eight rebounds for Lakeside (3-2), which travels to Mullan on Thursday.
