DRUMMOND - While the Warriors may have some new faces, they still can put up points.
Lots of them.
Arlee went 1-1 in Drummond Tip-off tournament this weekend, scoring at least 60 points in both games and look to have plenty of octane to fuel this season.
Last year, the Warriors posted a similair type of style, with plenty of balance and several different players being called upon to score. Two weeks in, it appears that Arlee is still on that same page under second-year head coach Dustin Keltner.
In their opening game, a 73-60 loss to Drummond, the Warriors had a balanced attack and four different players scored in double digits.
The thing that hampered Arlee was a slow start in the first quarter, scoring just eight points and finding themselves down 44-22 at halftime.
They battled back though, and scored 24 points in the fourth quarter while holding Drummond to 12. While it wasn't enough to win the game, it still showed there was plenty of fight in the team.
Justin Adams scored 12 points while Sam Nelson, Mark Fullerton and Junior Sansavere all added 10. Arlee, who finished second at last year's state tournament, wasn't about to come away winless in their first weekend. The Warriors came out with a ferocious defense against Seeley-Swan on Saturday.
Arlee led 26-3 in the first quarter, and after giving up 11 points in the second, allowed just nine second-half points by Seeley-Swan in a 65-23 victory.
Again, four different players were in double-digits with Adams again leading the way with 13. Nelson and Sansavere added 12, while Josh Reed had 10. Sansavere, who should be one of the team leaders this season after being one of the state tournament players last year, finished the weekend with 22 points while Justin Adams, known for his NFL-distance field goals during football season, had 25 points.
Arlee will get into district action this weekend at Class C newcomer Superior on Friday night and then travel to St. Regis on Tuesday.
