VICTOR - The Charlo Vikings couldn't have drawn up a better start to their season last weekend. If they play like that for the next few months, they're going to make some noise in Class C.

The Vikings used a 20-6 first-quarter breakout to help Charlo win their first game of the season, 76-51 over Darby in the Victor Tournament opener on Friday, Dec. 9.

Kolten Andrews led the Charlo offensive onslaught with a game-high 18 points as one of five players in double figures. Dillon Delaney contributed with 15 points, Stephen Delaney added 13 and Tra Ludeman and Webb O'Neill each notched 11 as the Vikings built a 64-32 lead after three quarters and cruised to the season-opening victory. Kale Pope, with four points, and both Tyler Delaney and Maverick Nelson, with two apiece, rounded out the scoring for the Vikings.

Charlo moved to 2-0 the following day in a defensive struggle, overcoming a fourth-quarter deficit to gut out a 43-36 win over the host Pirates.

Stephen Delaney took over the scoring for the Vikings on Saturday with 14 points, while Dillon Delaney and O'Neill added nine each.

Ludeman with six and Andrews with five also scored for Charlo.

In the back-and-forth affair, the Vikings trailed 14-10 after the first quarter, but rebounded to tie the game at 22 by halftime. Victor escaped the third quarter, clinging to a 2-point lead at 32-30, but a big 13-4 fourth quarter enabled Charlo to get the win.

The Vikings will look to keep it going when they head

down to St. Regis on Thursday to take on the Tigers.
