A 28-year-old Kalispell man has turned himself in after learning police were looking for him after he carried a concealed handgun into class Wednesday at Flathead Valley Community College.

Benjamin Woodson showed up to answer for his charges at about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Kalispell Police Lt. Wade Rademacher.

“We had called him and left messages and he came in last night to take care of it,” Rademacher said, adding that such an outcome is not rare with similar charges.

“It’s not that uncommon that — if we get a warrant for a person — if we call them and say, ‘This came out, why don’t you come down and take care of it,’ a lot of times people will,” he said.

Woodson is facing a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon. He currently is being held at the Flathead County Detention Center with bail set at $450.

Rademacher said Woodson has several prior convictions for driving under the influence, but was unaware of any other criminal history.
