Dawn Marie Hansel, 62, passed Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.

She was born in Kellogg, Aug. 29, 1949, to Thelma M. DeChenne and Vilas Merritt Baldwin.

She attended John R. Rogers High School. She lived in the Spokane area until 1981.

She moved to the Post Falls area in 1982.

Dawn was married to Thomas Lloyd Hansel on May 28, 1988, at Incline Village, Nev.

They lived in Spirit Lake for the past 12 years.

Dawn was a passionate gardener, skilled in crochet, artistic in ceramic detail, loved music and dancing, hunting and had a devotion to God and her family.

Dawn is preceded by her mother, Thelma M. DeChenne.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Hansel.

Sisters and brothers: Judith Palms of Milwaukee, Wis., Nancy Wyatt of Palmer, Alaska, David Baldwin of Port Orchard, Wash., Debby DeChenne of Port Orchard, Deidre VanSickle of Wasilla, Alaska, Duane DeChenne of Newport, Wash. Her children: Lisa Schmelling, Kathy Hansel, Rob Hansel, Troy Baldwin, Tony Callihan; numerous nieces, nephews; as well as 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, with a reception to follow.
