Retired priest injured in fire improves

RATHDRUM - A retired priest and Rathdrum-area property owner injured during a fire that destroyed his home last week was listed in good condition at Kootenai Medical Center on Sunday.

Michael Scarcello was outside the home at 3427 Scarcello Road when firefighters arrived on Wednesday, but later transported to Kootenai Medical Center.

He told firefighters that an ember popped out of a wood stove and started a recliner on fire.
