MOSES LAKE - Three men reportedly robbed a Moses Lake pizza delivery driver before stealing his car from the Larson Housing Area.
Grant County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a robbery on Pershing Road, north of Moses Lake, Friday at about 9 p.m., according to Grant County Undersheriff Dave Ponozzo.
The 22-year-old Pizza Hut employee reportedly told deputies he was delivering a pizza when he was confronted by three men, one of whom was holding a knife. One suspect told the victim he was being robbed, demanding his money and cellphone before all three suspects fled in the victim's car, Ponozzo stated.
The victim was not injured during the incident and his car was found abandoned a few blocks away just minutes after the robbery, Ponozzo stated.
The amount of money stolen was declared.
"The victim was frightened and not able to provide detailed descriptions of the suspects, other than the three suspects were each Hispanic and around 5-foot, 10-inches tall," Ponozzo stated. "One wore a dark stocking cap. Another may have had a bandana covering part of his face."
Investigators say it appears the delivery man was lured to the area by a fake order placed to a non-existent address using the Pizza Hut iPhone application.
Evidence was located at the scene and the investigation continues, Ponozzo stated.
Anyone with possible information about the crime is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff's Office at 509-754-2011 ext. 468, or send an email to crimetips@co.grant.wa.us. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
