Quincy city council salaries increase
STAFF REPORT | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 13 years, 5 months AGO
QUINCY - The Quincy Salary Commission approved pay increases for the mayor and city councilmembers.
The new figures were presented during a recent city council meeting.
There were no comments from the council.
The committee reviewed other cities in the state with a population of 3,000 to 11,000, according to city records. It did not state which cities were reviewed.
It recommended raising the mayor's salary by $200 a month, or 20 percent, and councilmembers' salary by $50, or 12.5 percent.
The mayor begins receiving $1,200 a month in January and each council member will receive $450 a month starting in 2012.
Councilmembers are required to attend 50 percent of the meetings in a month to receive the salary.
"So that means if you have three committee meetings and two council meetings you have to make at least three meetings a month to get paid," Mayor Jim Hemberry said.
