High school students 'GEAR UP'

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake High School students are gearing up for life after high school.
Washington State University's Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program is partnering with the high school, Big Bend Community College and the College Success Foundation to hold a college and career conference from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at in the Big Bend Community College ATEC building.
The conference is open to Moses Lake High School students and their parents.
Students and parents are asked to register by Jan. 13. Registration forms are available at the high school office or online at www.moseslakeschools.org/forms.
Participants can also register by calling the GEAR UP office at 509-766-2666, ext. 2950.
The conference features sessions on college preparedness, including "Steps to College 101," "Filling out the FAFSA," "Running Start," "College Athletics and the NCAA," "Success for Latino Students in College," and more.
Participants will be entered in a drawing for Starbucks gift baskets, Moses Lake Chiefs gear, gift cards and T-shirts.
A question and answer session features representatives from Central Washington University, Eastern Wash?ing?ton University, Heritage University, University of Idaho, University of Washington, and Washington State University.
