SANDPOINT - A woman convicted of a drowsy-driving crash that claimed the life a woman in Blanchard last year has pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license.
Bowdeen Sui-Lan Kahuhu entered the plea in Pend Oreille County, Wash., district court on Dec. 14. She was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 334 days suspended, according to court documents. She was also ordered to pay $543 in fines and costs.
Kahuhu, a 32-year-old from Newport, Wash., pleaded guilty to accidentally killing a Washington state woman on Highway 41 in August 2010. Patricia Ann Lambie, 46, was chaperoning a teenage runner in an interstate relay race when a sleep-deprived Kahuhu struck her with her minivan.
Kahuhu told Idaho State Police she fell asleep at the wheel.
Kahuhu was sentenced to a year in jail, although she successfully appealed for a reduced sentence despite objections from Lambie's family.
Several months after her sentencing, Kahuhu was cited in Idaho for driving without privileges and accused of using her jail furlough to visit friends and family instead of for counseling.
In September, the driving without privileges charge was reduced to driving with an out of state license while under suspension and she was fined $154, according to court documents.
In November, Kahuhu was cited in Newport for driving with a suspended license.
