The free throws finally fell. After dismal shooting at the start of the season, the Columbia Falls girls basketball team got their first win Dec. 20 in Eureka, 59-43.

The Wildkats were led by senior forward Madison Sandefer, who dropped in 19 points, and junior Hope Burlage, with 17.

Burlage shot 11-of-12 from the line to spark the Kats, who up until now have had a difficult time shooting free throws.

The girls shot out to a 16-5 lead in the first stanza and then held off a Eureka rally in the second half to get the win.

Freshman Ciera Finberg also had a nice game with nine points. Andrea Getts and Haley Belgarde chipped in six points apiece.

The girls will practice over the Christmas break. They play Bigfork on Jan. 5 away and then conference foe Polson at home on Jan. 7.
