ST. REGIS - The Arlee offense continued to hum for the Warriors with a resounding 66-14 district victory over St. Regis last Tuesday, Dec. 20, Leading the charge was Junior Sansavere, a key cog in Arlee's second place finish at the state tournament last year and a focal point for the Warriors this season. Sansavere went Kobe on the opposition with 21 points while Josh Reed added 10.

But as impressive as they were, the Arlee defense was equally stunning, holding the Tigers to just two points in the second and fourth quarters.

The Warriors sprinted out to an 18-3 lead in the first, and had a 35-5 advantage by halftime. St. Regis would get its highest output in a quarter for the game in the third with seven points but their defense couldn't stop Arlee, who poured in 18 points for the 53-12 lead. The winless Tigers would get just a bucket in the fourth and Arlee cruised to the victory.

Nine different Warriors had points in the game and it was the Warriors highest point total of the season. It was also the fewest amount of points allowed for Arlee this season, as they previously held Seeley-Swan to 23 points in the tip off tournament earlier this month. It was Arlee's second league victory and third overall win of the season.

The Warriors had a tough task against Class B Loyola last Thursday, and held their own, staying close the entire game. Loyola opened up a slim 9-8 lead in the first quarter and led Arlee 24-18 at the half. They increased their lead slightly in the third quarter and went into the fourth quarter with a 36-27 advantage. The Warrior offense caught fire in the fourth for 22 points but Loyola was able to hold their lead for the victory.

Sansavere again led the team with 17 points, while Mark Fullerton had eight and Justin Adams added six. The schedule has been tough for Arlee in the first part of the season. The Warriors have managed to weather a barrage of tough squads and sit at 3-3. After Christmas break, Arlee jumps back into a boiling pan of basketball action, hosting district opponent Two Eagle, one of the top teams in the district, on Jan. 12. at 7 p.m.
