Dorothy M. Benko, 64, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her home, surrounded by loving family and friends.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Road with Father Tomas Vidal, celebrant.

Dorothy was born May 30, 1947 in Flasher, ND, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nathalia Dirk.  She was the youngest of 14 siblings. Dorothy graduated from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, earning a degree in nursing.  She married Alex Benko on April 12, 1969.  She was a registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital in the 1970's and an exceptional homemaker and mother.  Dorothy did volunteer work with programs that promoted teen drug awareness and prevention.

She is survived by her husband, Alex Benko, Moses Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachelle and Kevin Adey, San Tan Valley, AZ and Jessica and Dustin Stolworthy, Spokane, WA; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrin and Kristina Benko, Maple Valley, WA; grandchildren, Sebastian and Christian Johnson of San Tan Valley, AZ and Teegan and Emery Benko of Maple Valley, WA.
