QUINCY - It may be fair to say that the Quincy Jacks basketball team are not a team anyone in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) wants to play come district playoff time.
On Saturday, the Jacks showed that their recent surge of winning play may be anything but a fluke as they defeated Ellensburg 55-53 behind a big fourth quarter rally.
The win assures Quincy (8-10, 6-10) of a district playoff spot and a chance to claim a victory over one of the big dogs in Class 2A.
Coming into the contest, Ellensburg had only lost twice in the CWAC - both times to unbeaten Grandview.
Behind a 15-7 fourth quarter, the Jacks made it three loses for the visiting Bulldogs as Quincy was led by Braulio Flores' 14 points and the 11-point performances by both Luke Grigg and Jacob Durfee.
Ellensburg (15-3, 13-3) led 31-21 at halftime.
On Friday night the Jacks got their dramatic weekend jump started with a 35-34 road win at Prosser.
Flores led Quincy with 17 points.
