Bobcats head to divisionals

The Superior Bobcats will be headed to Arlee on Saturday for the divisional tournament.
Coach Charlie Crabb said that they had this last weekend off so they could recharge and that they’ll be looking to “hit it hard” this week in practice.
“Basically, we will be looking to sharpen up what we already know and getting into tip top shape,” he said.
Crabb said that the team will be looking to turn up the heat and be physically ready for what the weekend holds.
Last week, they had a meet on Thursday against the teams from Sanders County. Everybody did well and wrestled well.
“We won matches we hadn’t won before and did what we expected to do,” Crabb said. “We had a good weekend.”
And they’ll be looking to have another good weekend as the team looks to send everyone they can to the state competition.
Anthony Parkin will need to make weight this week and “get fat.”
“He needs to make 83 pounds,” Crabb said. “It’s unusual for a wrestler to want to get fat, but he’s the exception to the rule. So that’s going to be his goal, to make that minimum weight that he needs to have to wrestle (at 89 pounds).”
Josh Wright, Dan Taron and River Sides have all been to state and Crabb said that it’ll be up to them if they want to make it back again.
“Josh is sort of in the middle of the pack at 145 pounds. He broke his thumb last year and is sort of making up for some lost time,” Crabb said. “If he can make a few minor adjustments, he’ll be right there. He’s pretty tough.”
Crabb said that Dan is as good as anyone out there and said that he just needs to figure that out.
“He has a talent,” Crabb said. “I think that he just needs to believe in himself a bit more. He’ll be fine.”
Crabb noted that when River decides he wants to tough, he can be “really tough.”
“Again, it’s that mental thing and it’s sort of like that with everyone on the team,” Crabb said.
Crabb said that everyone will need to focus and put all a good amount of effort in this weekend at divisionals.
“There’s no easy weight class and these guys can’t overlook anyone,” Crabb said. “Taron and Wright are easily in the top four, I believe, but there are going to be guys that are hungry and anything can happen. You can’t have a bad day.”

St. Regis students get pleasant surprise
St. Regis students received a surprise this week after they finished taking their semester tests on Monday. Yearbooks are a creative outlet that commemorates an important time in your life. While making them is hard work, the result is a fun way to document life and hold onto good memories. On Monday, thanks to the support of businesses from around the county, last year’s juniors, sophomores and freshmen all received a free year book. The seniors of class 2010 also received a free book.
