WARDEN - Two teams came enter action last night with two different objectives.

The Soap Lake Lady Eagles were aiming for their first victory, while the Warden Lady Cougars hoped to keep their slim Central Washington 2B district playoff hopes alive.

For three quarters both teams put themselves in the position to obtain those goals as Warden held a narrow 35-33 lead.

However, the Lady Cougars decided to take the fight to their guests and would eventually record a 22-3 knockout over the last eight minutes to secure a 57-36 win.

"We put on a full court press to start the fourth quarter," Warden head coach Todd Kisler said. "We attacked the basket, ran the floor well and made a bunch of layins."

Prior to that, Warden (7-10, 3-6) struggled all night to score from close range and the Lady Eagles (0-15, 0-9) kept it close enough to threaten to earn that elusive first victory.

"We missed a ton of shots in the paint in the first half," Kisler said. "We should have been winning by 20 but weren't."

Iris Rodriguez led Warden with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Hannah Bisnett added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Tawnie Gonzales finished with eight points.

Soap Lake got a majority of their scoring from Cynthia Piedra who recorded 16 points and Diana Shtyba who added nine points.
