Learn all about trees during special event

The Montana Department of Natural
Resources and Conservation and the U.S. Forest Service are
sponsoring what is billed as a “Free Tree Talk” at 6:30 p.m., on
Wednesday, Feb. 16 in the Ponderosa Room behind Libby City
Hall.
Certified arborist Mike Garvey will
lead the two-hour presentation.
The event will include information on
the importance of a healthy urban forest, identifying invasive and
destructive insects and diseases, pest monitoring and survey
techniques and implementing a pest reporting and protocol
system.
In addition, those in attendance can
learn basic skills such as tree identification, tree selection,
planting and maintenance techniques, issues associated with trees
already growing in the urban environment and tips for improving
sustainability, vigor and hardiness for urban trees.
