MOSES LAKE - A 2-year-old boy died from injuries after the car he was in ran a stop sign, colliding with another vehicle near Moses Lake Wednesday.
A 33-year-old Moses Lake woman was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier heading eastbound on Road Four Northeast when she reportedly ran a stop sign while approaching Road L Northeast, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
The car was struck in the side by a 2004 Honda CRV traveling southbound on Road L Northeast around 7 a.m., driven by Gary Frederich, 51, Moses Lake.
The 2-year-old boy was riding in the Cavalier and was later pronounced dead from the injuries sustained in the collision, according to Grant County sheriff Tom Jones.
All parties involved were transported to Samaritan Hospital, but it was unknown if the drivers sustained injuries, stated Jones.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office Motor Traffic Unit is investigating.
No tickets were issued, said Jones. The unit may decide to issue tickets once the investigation is complete.
Craig Morrison, Grant County coroner, said the boy's death is under investigation and they plan to perform an autopsy.
The names of the Cavalier driver and the boy are not being released until the next of kin have been notified.
