ENGAGEMENTS

Johnston-Rhodes

Laura Johnston and Jake Rhodes together with their parents are announcing their engagement. Laura is the daughter of Randall and Sandra Johnston of Athena, Ore. Jake is the son of Curt and Debbie Rhodes of Hayden.

Laura is a graduate of Weston-McEwen High School in Athena. She is attending Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore., and will graduate in March. She is currently employed as the Welcome Center Coordinator.

Jake graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 2007. He is also attending EOU and will graduate in June.

An Aug. 13, 2011, wedding is planned at Frazier Farmstead Museum in Milton-Freewater, Ore.

Archer-Nick

Derek J. Nick and Kiley J. Archer, both of Post Falls, are happy to announce their engagement and forthcoming wedding.

The bride to be is the daughter of Joby and Jody Mongan of Spokane, and the late Tanya Archer. The groom elect is the son of Brant Morris and Nancy Nick of Post Falls.

The couple is planning a July 16, 2011, wedding in Post Falls.

McDonald-Emmons

Amy Sue McDonald and Dwight Nye Emmons, both of Coeur d'Alene, were united in marriage on Jan. 22, 2011, at Mon Bel Ami Chapel in Las Vegas, Nev.

Amy is the daughter of Gloria and Dale Youngbauer. Dwight is the son of Linda and Richard Emmons.

The bride graduated from Cottage Grove High School in Cottage Grove, Ore. The groom graduated from Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Conn., and Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.

Sebastian Craig Lien was born at 2:58 a.m. Dec. 20, 2010, to JoSann and Nolan Lien of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 inches long. Brother is Quentin. Maternal grandparents are Mike and Debbie Tylzynski. Paternal grandparents are Keith and Betty Lien.

Preston Ryan Robert Carpenter was born at 3:11 p.m. Dec. 28, 2010, to Alethea and Rob Carpenter of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and was 21 inches long. Sisters are Makenna and Ashley. Brother is Trevor. Maternal grandparents are Thomas and Patricia Lopez. Paternal grandparents are R.W. Carpenter and Roma Blalack.

Austin Aaron-Ray Giordano was born at 3:59 p.m. Jan. 29, 2011, to Grace M. Emery and Scott P. Giordano of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 19 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Michelle Emery and Kyle Welke. Paternal grandparents are Robin L. Giordano and Aaron Simpson.

Bennett Samuel Sloan was born at 7:50 a.m. Nov. 8, 2010, to Chandra and Dustin Sloan of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. and was 21 inches long. Brothers are Jordan and Seven. Sisters are Alexandria and Madison. Maternal grandparents are Douglas and Barbara Daughenbaugh, and Patricia Anderson. Paternal grandparents are Janice Sloan and the late Randy Sloan.

MILESTONE BIRTHDAY

Roy Abel

100th Birthday

Roy Abel celebrated his 100th birthday with the Rambling Rovers Senior Travel Club at the Lake City Senior Center. Roy is a charter member and still an active participant in the Club.

MILITARY

Navy Seaman Apprentice William J. Lambert, son of Michele L. and William C. Lambert of Hayden Lake, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Lambert is a 2010 graduate of North Idaho Christian High School in Hayden.

Army Pvt. Brandon L. Ryser has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Catina A. Graham of Osburn and Jon Ryser of Coeur d'Alene.

Ryser graduated in 2010 from the Bridge Academy Alternative High School in Coeur d'Alene.
