POST FALLS - Whether it's with photography, shooting videos or being involved in a variety of school activities, Josie Tennison enjoys capturing the moment.
The Post Falls High senior is involved with cross country, basketball and track, along with Link, Business Professionals of America and student government.
"I like being busy," Tennison said.
In basketball, she has enjoyed the challenge of playing a post position this year at 5-foot-7.
With track, she has been part of relay teams that have qualified for the state meet each of her first three years, including the 4-by-200 team that placed second last year.
"This year I'm going to try the 800 (meters) with my cross country background," Tennison said.
Last year Tennison was the only PFHS runner to qualify for the state cross country meet. This year she was the only PFHS girl to qualify.
"I like running and the competition of it," she said.
This year Tennison is the school's BPA president and regional vice president for BPA.
"It's a different kind of competition than sports," she said. "I like being creative and the business aspect of it."
For BPA this year, Tennison made a video on the dangers of texting and driving that captured first place in the regional competition. Her desktop publishing project placed third. She'll compete in both categories at the state BPA contest in March.
"The video has been eye opening with all the facts about (texting and driving)," Tennison said.
Tennison said she also enjoys being a leader for Link, which helps freshmen transition to high school.
"When I was a freshman, I didn't have Link leaders," she said. "So I like to be that person."
Classmates noticed Tennison likes being a busy body and recruited her for student government.
"This is my first year in it," she said. "Every year my friends are like, 'Why don't you join ASB?' It's been fun."
Tennison has done everything from organize lunch activities during Prairie Pig spirit week to selling tickets during homecoming week.
Tennison wants her interest in portrait photography and videography to continue in college.
She plans to attend either Northwest Nazarene in Nampa or Spokane Community College next year. She'll run at either college and plans to major in business marketing and pursue a minor in video.
"Eventually, I'd like to become a director of photography, working hand-in-hand with a producer," Tennison said.
