Clifford Lamar Mower, 32, "entered into rest" on Jan. 30, 2011, at his home in Kalispell.

Our son was born June 20, 1978 in Kalispell. He grew up in the Columbia Falls area and attended schools in the area, as well. After completing his high school education at Capital High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. When he reenlisted, he and his family were stationed in Italy.

In April 2003, his unit was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. At night, he and his unit jumped into Kurdish territory, hiked for hours in knee-deep mud until they were greeted by teary-eyed Kurds awaiting their help. As a highly decorated Iraqi War veteran, he loved serving his nation; however, he continued to suffer from PTSD, which resulted in an honorable discharge.

Cliff loved being a husband and father. His life revolved around his family, going camping, outdoor activities, hunting, fly fishing and target shooting with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merle and Gladys Greenland, Cliff Greenland, Palmo Kushner and Joyce Ogdahl.

Cliff is survived by his parents, Karen Greenland Shepherd of Hamilton, and Lamar Mower of Huntley; daughters, Ashley and Emily Mower of Fort Belvoir, Va.; stepdaughters, Raissa and Aubrey Owens of Kalispell; sister, Tracy Ivey, of Denver; grandparents, R.D. and Karen Mower of Fortine; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Columbia Falls Mortuary in Columbia Falls. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.
