The Frenchtown Broncs weren’t able to grab another divisional title this year, but they managed to score 204 points, good enough for a third place finish.
Five individuals nabbed divisional titles for Frenchtown including Alberton wrestler Cody Ishler, who was a state runner-up last year.
Ishler won at 125 pounds on Saturday. He won by decision against James DuBose, Corvallis, 4-1.
“Cody did a really nice job,” Coach Bob Henderson said. “He controlled his opponent very well.”
The win was Ishler’s third divisional title.
Alberton wrestler Roy Schutter also competed at the divisionals last week. He lost in the consolation round to Anaconda wrestler Thomas Allison by decision, 7-1. He ended up in fourth place and will also wrestle at state this weekend.
“I wish he could have got one more win, but you have to stay focused and it can turn into a long tournament,” Henderson said.
Henderson took 17 wrestlers to divisionals last weekend and 16 of them will be wrestling at state this weekend in Butte.
“It was a nice showing,” Henderson said. “We had a couple of surprises and had a couple of kids work their way in. It was cool.”
Henderson said that Ishler and Schutter, as well as the other wrestlers, just need to be mentally ready for Saturday’s competition.
“They got the tools and they are in great shape,” Henderson said. “It’s just mentally prepping for what’s coming up.”

St. Regis students get pleasant surprise
St. Regis students received a surprise this week after they finished taking their semester tests on Monday. Yearbooks are a creative outlet that commemorates an important time in your life. While making them is hard work, the result is a fun way to document life and hold onto good memories. On Monday, thanks to the support of businesses from around the county, last year’s juniors, sophomores and freshmen all received a free year book. The seniors of class 2010 also received a free book.
