MOSCOW - Kylie Gorton scored a team-high 11 points to help rally Moscow (8-15) past Lakeland 39-31 in the girls basketball 4A Region 1 championship game Tuesday night.
The region tournament is double-elimination, so both teams square off Thursday at Moscow for a trip to the state tournament.
"We did a good job of pushing the lead into the third quarter," Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. "All of a sudden our offense shut down. We hustled, worked hard, but it just didn't happen."
Neena Buchmann had 15 points, Darby Murray five points, six rebounds and four assists for Lakeland (12-11).
"In the second half, their defense tightened up and our offense tightened up," Seymour said.
