POST FALLS - Senior Connor Hill had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the second-ranked Post Falls Trojans defeated the Lewiston Bengals 61-40 on Tuesday to clinch the regular season Inland Empire League title and top seed to the 5A Region 1 tournament, starting next Friday at The Arena.

"At the beginning of the season, we set some goals," Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. "Our first goal was to wrap up the 5A league title. Next is, we're trying to match last year's win total by getting wins in our next two games."

Marcus Colbert had nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and Michael Hillman had seven rebounds for Post Falls (16-2, 4-1 5A IEL), which hosts Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

"It was a good team effort," McLean said. "All 10 guys that played got a rebound. I thought we played well as a team and I was happy with our pressure and ability to wear them down."

Lakeside opened a 20-4 halftime lead, holding the Wallace offense to 13 shots in the half. Wallace went 9 of 41 from the field in the loss.

"The game was decided by our defense," Lakeside coach Ron Miller said. "Wallace had to work for every shot. We played steadily all night and our team defense was outstanding. Shannon controlled the inside for us and rebounded well."

Lakeside (15-5) will face the winner of tonight's District 3 third-place game between Troy and Kendrick at St. Maries High to advance to the state tournament at Columbia High in Nampa.

Taylor Pasley scored 12 points for Wallace (10-9).

"It was a tough one tonight," Wallace coach Nicole Farkas said. "We just couldn't seem to get anything going in the first half. We came back in the third quarter and cut it to 10 points. The girls never let up, but it was a night when nothing was working, but not for a lack of effort."
