Whitefish School District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting in the board meeting room, 600 East Second Street, on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. to discuss the school superintendent search process.

The Authors of the Flathead’s annual High School Student Writing Contest is accepting short stories up to 900 words and poetry up to 35 lines for a chance to win cash prizes. Sophomores, juniors and seniors can mail submissions to 2011 Student Writing Contest, Authors of the Flathead, P.O. Box 7711, Kalispell MT 59904-0711. Deadline is April 16. Whitefish High School senior Presley Pritchard is one of six recipients of Community Pride Scholarships sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union. The students will receive scholarships totaling $1,700 for the spring 2011 semester at Flathead Valley Community College. Pritchard is pursuing studies toward a career in firefighting and paramedicine.

Holly Cullen, of Whitefish, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2010 semester at Susquehanna University, in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Kali Schmidt, of Whitefish, was named to the fall semester president’s honor roll at the University of Great Falls with a 4.0 GPA.

Stephannie Olson, of Whitefish, was named to the fall semester dean’s list at the University of Great Falls with a 3.5 or higher GPA.
