MATTAWA - With two big wins this past weekend, the Royal Knights gave themselves a shot at qualifying for the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) playoffs.

First they had to take care of a little business called a SCAC East tiebreaker.

Tied with Connell for fourth-place and the East's final seed, Royal travelled to Mattawa Monday night to settle matters to see who would move on to district tournament play.

In the end, the Knights (10-11) couldn't hold on to an early lead and they would fall 37-32 as Connell took the season series two-games-to-one while ending Royal's season.

Royal led 17-12 at halftime but Connell would even matters by the end of the third quarter and would outscore Royal over the last eight minutes, 11-6, to pull away from their rivals and into the district tournament.

Danny Vermeer led Royal with 12 points.
