Engel, Chiefs keep Silvertips silent

EVERETT, Wash. - Mac Engel had 23 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Everett Silvertips 2-0 in Western Hockey League action in front of 6,511 at Comcast Arena on Friday night.

"It was a real nice way to rebound from the last game," Spokane coach Don Nachbaur said. "We got a good, solid defensive effort and it was a good win for our team."

Dominik Uher and Mitch Holmburg scored goals for Spokane (33-15-4-2, 72 points), which remains five points behind U.S. Divsion-leading Portland and one point ahead of third-place Tri-City.

Spokane, which hosts Tri-City tonight at 7 at the Spokane Arena, outshot Everett 39-23.
