KENT, Wash. - Calvin Pickard stopped 57 of 58 shots as the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Spokane Chiefs 3-1 in Western Hockey League action Sunday night before 2,538 at the ShoWare Center.

Colin Jacobs scored the go-ahead goal on a rebound for Seattle early in the third period, after Spokane had killed off the sixth power play in six tries by the Thunderbirds.

Spokane's Anthony Bardaro stole the puck in the offensive zone and wrapped a forehand shot past Pickard midway through the first period for the game's first goal.

Burke Gallimore added an empty netter in the final minute for Seattle.

Spokane (34-16-4-2), playing for the fourth time in five nights, is now five points behind Portland in the U.S. Division, and one point ahead of Tri-City for second place.

Spokane plays at Everett on Wednesday.
