Bishop visits this weekend

COEUR d'ALENE - Bishop James E. Waggoner Jr. will be visiting St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave., this weekend.

Waggoner will be at the services on 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. There will be a potluck with an opportunity to meet Waggoner following Sunday's service.

Waggoner serves the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane which includes 42 congregations in North Idaho Panhandle and Eastern Washington.

The Bishop's visit will launch a new "Organizing for Mission" initiative at St. Luke's.

Part of Waggoner's mission focus is "to inspire a passion for mission within our diocese and develop new leaders for the future of the church."

Through education and financial commitments, OFM will address hunger issues locally and internationally. A series of programs during the Lenten season will explore local needs.
