School superintendent list down to 5 in Troy

The Troy School Board announced that it

has selected five finalists for the superintendent of schools

position.

The finalists will be in Troy on

Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Wednesday, Feb. 23 for the interview process,

school board member Steve Garrett announced.

The community is invited to meet with

the candidates at the Troy Activity Center on Feb. 22 from 6-8

p.m.

Interviews are open to the public and

will start at 1 p.m., at the Troy administration board room on Feb.

22. Two interviews will be conducted on Feb. 22 with the other

three interviews starting at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 23. A schedule for

the interviews is available online at the school district’s

website.

“The board spent a lot of time

reviewing the applications and deliberating on which ones are the

best fit for our school and the educational well being of our

students,” Garrett said. “These candidates rose to the top from the

pool we had to choose from. We all are looking forward to getting

to know these five candidates better.”

Selle resigned effective July 1.

The five finalists chosen by the

board:

Arlene Bigby – Bigby holds a doctorate

in educational leadership from the University of Southern

Mississippi as well as a master’s degree in elementary education

from Montana State University-Northern. She has worked as at

teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, principal,

intervention specialist and a superintendent in several Montana

schools. She is currently employed as an intervention specialist

and assistant principal for the Wolf Point School District.

Larry Markuson – Markuson holds a

master’s degree in educational leadership from Montana State

University. In addition, Larry received his Bachelors degree in

Mathematics from Montana State University. He has worked as a

teacher, coach, principal and superintendent in several Montana

schools. Currently, he is employed as the superintendent/high

school principal for the Hot Springs school system. In addition, he

was a licensed general contractor for several years.

Mike Yovetich – Yovetich holds a

master’s degree in secondary school administration from the

University of Montana. He received a bachelor’s degree in history

from the University of Montana. He has worked as a teacher,

athletic director, assistant principal, and principal at schools in

Montana and Idaho. Currently he is employed as a principal for the

Post Falls (Idaho) School District. In addition, Yovetich operated

a small business for several years.

Marilyn Flammang – Flammang holds a

bachelor’s and master’s degree in education administration from

Wayne State College (Neb). She has worked as a teacher, coach,

principal and superintendent at schools in Iowa, Wyoming and

Montana. Currently, she is employed as the superintendent/principal

for the Hays-Lodge Pole School District. In addition, Flammang

operated a small business in Iowa.

Dan Wendt – Wendt holds a master’s

degree in education from Montana State University. He received his

bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in

computer science from Montana Tech in Butte. He has worked as a

teacher, coach, technology coordinator and principal at schools in

Idaho and Montana. Currently, Wendt is employed as the principal

for the Cut Bank School District.
