Louis Joseph Palush, 83

Our loving husband and father, Louis Joseph Palush, 83, of Coeur d'Alene, left us to meet his Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011. Lou was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., on July 29, 1927.

Lou was the third of seven children born to George Jacob and Anna (Jetko) Palush. He spent his early years growing up in the coal-mining town of Grassflat, Pa. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army with the Occupational Forces in Japan and then joined the Navel Reserves in Perth Amboy, N.J.

Lou leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores (Teets) Palush; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ken Skaggs of Eureka, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Louis (Bud) and Joan Palush of Sparks, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Marc (Tamarack) Andrews of Coeur d'Alene; three granddaughters, Casey Broome, Heather Spagnolo and Amanda Miller; five grandsons, Benjamin Connelly, Ryan Skaggs, Jeremiah Palush and Bruce and Gary Anderson; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, James and a sister, Anne and their spouses.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Michael and George, and sisters Mary and Betty.

Lou thoroughly enjoyed his family, had a terrific sense of humor and loved to make people smile. In his early years he formed a model airplane club for the neighborhood children of Laurence Harbor, N.J. Lou was always interested in learning new things and some of his hobbies included archery, children's furniture making, tropical fish, painting, wine making, photography and gardening.

He held many jobs in research and development. In 1988 he retired from Ford Aeronutronics in Newport Beach, Calif.

Family will hold a private service at home with Fr. Francisco Godinez of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
