State wrestling berths up for grabs

RATHDRUM - Lakeland High will be the site for the 5A Region 1, 4A Region 1 and 3A District 1 wrestling tournaments this weekend.

The 5A and 3A tournaments will run today and Saturday; the 4A tourney will be a one-day event Saturday.

Action begins today at 5 p.m. with quarterfinals in 3A and 5A. Action resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. with 4A quarterfinals, followed by semifinals in all classifications, followed by consolation and placing matches.

The finals in all three classifications are tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m., though tournament officials said the finals could start as early as noon.

The top three finishers in the 5A tourney, top two in 4A and top four in 3A advance to state Feb. 24-26 at the Idaho Center in Nampa.

Shock take arena football game outdoors

SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock announced the first outdoor arena football game in team history.

On July 9, the Shock will face the Utah Blaze in the Joe Albi Stadium Summer Classic.

Tickets for the game will go on sale for season ticket holders today at noon and will go on sale to the general public on Monday morning at 10 a.m. through TicketsWest and range from $10-$75.

The game will feature all the traditional rules of the arena game, including a 50-yard field with walls and rebound nets. Supreme Sports Marketing will co-promote the game with the Shock.
