Taco truck vandalized
COEUR d'ALENE - Vandals attacked a taco truck called Tacos Los Panchos at 2102 N. Fourth St., cutting the power line leading to the trailer.
The trailer's owner also noticed someone cut the propane and heater lines. The vandals took portions of the three lines, he said.
No one tried to enter the trailer when it was vandalized late on Feb. 10 or early Feb. 11, according to a police report.
The total damage was estimated at $1,500.
The trailer owner told The Press that white supremacists have protested outside his truck on two occasions, most recently on Feb. 5. He said it was about seven to nine people on both occasions.
He told police that white supremacists have visited his taco truck frequently and told him to "go back to your country," according to a police report.
Chamber plans trips abroad
The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce has more globetrotting in store.
The chamber announced it has scheduled trips this year to Rio de Janeiro and to Barcelona and Madrid.
The eight-day Rio de Janeiro trip has a scheduled departure date of Sept. 13. It includes a visit to the Christ the Redeemer landmark, a cable car ride to the top of Sugarloaf and visits to Ipanema, Copacabana and the Grumari beaches.
The cost, which includes round-trip airfare and hotel, is $2,749 for a single, $2,399 for a double and $2,369 for a triple.
The trip to Barcelona and Madrid, also eight days, has a departure date of Nov. 26. Highlights will include the Prado Museum, Paseo Castellano and the Plaza de Espana.
The travel rate is $2,299 for a single, $1,999 for a double and $1,969 for a triple.
For both trips, travelers will pay an additional $150 in air taxes and fees and $175 insurance.
The chamber will hold an informational meeting for the Rio trip from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the chamber office on March 29, and for Barcelona/Madrid at the same time and location on March 30.
Individuals do not have to be chamber members to participate.
