Betty L. Ferguson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. We all have a beautiful angel looking over us. Betty was born in Coeur d'Alene on March 11, 1934, to John and Mildred Strobel.

She grew up in the Rose Lake area attending all 12 school years at the Rose Lake Community School. She was very involved in school activities including co-captain of the basketball team. She made many friends in school who continued to be friends all her life. She graduated in 1951.

Betty met her first husband, Richard (Dick) Donohoe in elementary school. They married in 1952 until his death in a logging accident in June 1957. They had two daughters: Candy and Robin. Betty married her second husband, Percy Ferguson, July 17, 1959. They had four children: Gina, Tony, Evan and Mark. Percy passed away in February 1998.

Betty wore many hats in her life. Raising her six children was her favorite role. Later in life she volunteered at the Hospice Thrift Shop in Post Falls for 10 years. She was very proud of her volunteer work.

Our Mom was well loved for her straight forward no-nonsense manner which was always given with a dose of humor and love and a swift kick in the rear if needed. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (yes she was busy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her.

Betty was the youngest of five. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jack Strobel and Helen Chatfield are her remaining living siblings.

The celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene.

The family asks that any donations please be made to Hospice of North Idaho. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the final arrangements.

Please sign Betty's guest registry and view her online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
