Cardinal men, women knock off Colorado Northwestern

COEUR d'ALENE - Sophomore Idris Lasisi scored 28 points - his highest-scoring game in his two seasons at North Idaho College - on 6 of 8 from beyond the 3-point line as the Cardinals defeated Colorado Northwestern 96-78 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court on Thursday.

"Idris finally got rolling a bit tonight," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "He'd been in a shooting slump for the last couple weeks. It looks he busted out of it tonight."

Coming into the weekend, NIC (21-8, 6-8 SWAC) was already guaranteed the No. 5 seed, and a matchup with No. 4 Snow in the first round of the Region 18 tournament next Thursday in Twin Falls.

Also Thursday, Southern Idaho defeated Eastern Utah 88-86 in double overtime to clinch the SWAC regular season title. NIC hosts Eastern Utah in the regular season finale Saturday at 3 p.m.

Jon Henderson scored 25 points for Colorado Northwestern (7-21, 0-14).

COEUR d'ALENE - Sophomores Tugce Canitez and Camille Reynolds scored 18 points apiece as the 15th-ranked Cardinals rolled past the Spartans in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court.

Chantel Divilbiss scored 16 points for NIC (25-3, 11-3 SWAC), which hosts Eastern Utah in the home finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Southern Idaho defeated Eastern Utah 82-72 in Twin Falls in Thursday's other SWAC game.

NIC has already secured the No. 2 seed to the Region 18 tournament next weekend in Twin Falls.
