Lady Pirates take third at divisionals

Lady Pirates defeat Ronan and Whitefish after losing to Libby in

the semi-finals of the divisional tournament.

Polson 56, Whitefish 32

RONAN - Polson got out to a quick start and never looked back against Whitefish in the consolation final last Saturday. The Lady Pirates had the huge advantage in free throws, scoring 27 points from behind the line.

Breanne Kelley led Polson with 14 points as the Lady Pirates jumped out to a 28-14 lead at halftime. Mariah Hamel added 11.

Polson 56, Ronan 24

RONAN - Polson scored 24 points in the fourth quarter to put their game against Ronan on ice in a loser-out matchup on Saturday. The Lady Pirates would win 56-24 to advance to the conselation final of the Northwestern A divisional tournament.

Breanne Kelley led Polson with 18 points while Riley Kenney and Jonna Grant both added 11 apiece.

Ronan only trailed 32-19 through three quarters before Polson went on a 24-5 run in the fourth. Courtney Clairmont led the Maidens with nine points.

Libby 29, Polson 27

RONAN - It came down to the last possession, and there was a phantom time out called by the refs, but Polson couldn't convert to tie the game up in the last seconds of the semi-final divisional tournament game on Friday.

The Lady Pirates were plagued by 22 turnovers, which Libby took advantage of. The Lady Loggers had a 16-13 lead at halftime, then Polson grabbed 23-22 lead after the third quarter. The turnovers in the fourth turned out to be too much for the Lady Pirates as the fell to Libby.

Breanne Kelley led the team with nine points.
