Clara Sophia Walley, 90
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 10 months AGO
The Lord came, took her by the hand and led her peacefully home on Feb. 24, 2011. Her loved ones were at her bedside on her final journey. Her death was the result of complications following surgery.
Clara was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Craig, Mont., to Carl and Ranghald (Fjaagesund) Blomberg. She married her high school sweetheart Harold M. Walley in 1939, and then moved to Silver Valley in 1942. Our beloved parents built their dream home at Silver Beach on Lake Coeur d'Alene in 1972.
Her love of her husband and family was paramount. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church and enjoyed her friends in the congregation. She was an avid bridge player and her travels took her around the world. A sense of humor and wit was enjoyed by all. Her career ranged from banking, secretary to accountant for Health and Welfare. She loved being with her family on outings and holidays.
We have lost our loved one, friend and caretaker. Our memories are many for the void we are experiencing. She will live on in our hearts forever.
Clara was preceded in death by parents, sister Ester, brothers John and Alfred and her beloved husband.
She is survived by her children: son Gale Walley of Post Falls; daughters, Colleen Walley of Ellensburg, Wash., Lynn (Lon) Brower of Pinehurst; sister Anges Hortick and children Lauretta Stanfield and Sterling Burch, Charolette Burch, all of Great Falls, Mont.; nephew Harold (Shirley) Lee of Pritchard; grandchildren, Michael (Cheryl) Brower of Misawa, Japan, Kristen Brower of Coeur d'Alene, Dustin Bower of Kellogg and Karen Haig of Spokane, Wash.; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous loving Swedish cousins.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kootenai County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, and the memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, all at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
